Eugene McDermott Scholarship (UT Dallas)

McDermott Scholars receive one of the most selective and generous undergraduate merit awards in the nation; it includes a full scholarship and stipend package with access to UT Dallas’ rigorous education, leadership training, cultural enrichment, and personalized opportunities designed to equip them with the skills, experience, and confidence to succeed as leaders.

The scholarship includes:
  • Tuition and fees
  • Book stipends
  • Over $16,000 in living stipends each year
  • Up to $12,000 for study abroad
  • Up to $3,000 for career-oriented support
  • Cohort travel to Santa Fe, N.M.; Austin, Texas; and Washington, D.C.
  • Network of professional staff, faculty, alumni and current scholars
The award provides an essentially debt-free college education with benefits valued at more than $250,000 (out-of-state) or $150,000 (in-state) over the four-year term.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Required standardized test score (one or more of the following)
    • 1490 or higher on the new-style two-part SAT (verbal and math)
    • OR 34 or higher on the ACT
    • OR National Merit Semifinalist
  • First-time college freshman
    • AP, IB, CLEP, and Dual-Credit acceptable
Other Helpful (but not required) Qualifications:
  • Top 5% of class
  • Leadership
  • Community service
  • Broad interests
  • Social skills with peers
  • Interacts easily with adults
