Louisiana Hero's Scholarship Fund

The Louisiana Heroes' Scholarship Fund was created to provide college and vocational school tuition to the children of Louisiana's teachers, coaches, law enforcement officers, and first responders. Attorney Scott Chafin created the fund in conjunction with a local non-profit organization.

The Louisiana Heroes' Scholarship Fund will award (5) $2,500 scholarships annually. These scholarships will be awarded based on the applicant's merit and need. Each application will be reviewed by the Louisiana Heroes' Scholarship Fund Selection Committee. The scholarships will be given out at the Annual Louisiana Heroes' Scholarship Fundraising Gala held on October 20th, 2018.

To be eligible to apply for the Louisiana Heroes' Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • A resident of the state of Louisiana.
  • A child of a first responder, a member of law enforcement, or a teacher or coach employed by a Louisiana public school system.
  • Has a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, and is on track to graduate from an accredited high school this academic year OR is currently enrolled in a college or vocational school full time.
  • Accepted into a college or vocational school located in the state of Louisiana.
  • Planning on maintaining a full time status as a student.
