Advanced Placement (AP)

Advanced Placement (AP) is a designation for courses that are taught at a college level. At the end of the course, students take a comprehensive AP exam. The cost of the exam is approximately $94. Many colleges will award college credit hours for the course if a student achieves a score of 3, 4 or 5 on the AP exam.  It is important, however, to check with each individual college/university to determine score requirements.  One free score report will be sent to the college designated on the AP exam answer document.

To take an AP class, students should have previously been taking honors level classes in the subject area and making B's or higher.

*Note:  Colleges typically award credit for AP exams after the student begins his/her freshman year of college.
