Dual Enrollment

Dual enrollment classes give students who meet eligibility requirements an opportunity to earn college credit while in high school. Final grades in dual enrollment courses are recorded on both the high school and college transcripts. Magnet currently partners with LSUS, Northwestern, and LA Tech to offer the dual enrollment classes below. *Classes, post-secondary institutions, prices, and requirements are subject to change.*

  • Fall Semester - Advanced Math, English IV, Precalculus, Spanish III, US History
  • Spring Semester Advanced Math, Algebra II, American History, Business Computer Applications, English III, English IV, Precalculus, Spanish III, US History/American History AP, World History

 

Students interested in earning dual enrollment credit must be enrolled in a dual enrollment class, be on track for completing the Louisiana TOPS University Curriculum, and meet the following minimum requirements... 


LSUS
 
($150 per 3-hour dual enrollment course)

  • Must be enrolled in a junior or senior level course
  • Must have a composite score of 18 or higher on the ACT or PLAN
    • If student has a PLAN and ACT score, the ACT score will be used
  • Must have an ACT English subscore of 18 or higher
  • Must have an ACT math subscore of 19 or higher
  • Must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale

Northwestern (tuition and fees are waived if student meets requirements)

  • Must be enrolled in a junior or senior level course
  • Must have a composite score of 18 or higher on the ACT or PLAN
    • If student has a PLAN and ACT score, the ACT score will be used
  • Must have an ACT/PLAN English subscore of 18 or higher
  • Must have an ACT/PLAN math subscore of 19 or higher
  • Sophomores and Juniors must have a 3.0 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale; Seniors must have a 2.75 GPA or higher

LA Tech (tuition and fees are TBD)

  • Must be enrolled in a junior or senior level course
  • Must have a composite score of 18 or higher on the ACT or PLAN
    • If student has a PLAN and ACT score, the ACT score will be used
  • Must have an ACT English subscore of 18 or higher
  • Must have an ACT math subscore of 19 or higher
  • Must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
